The Closing Ceremony for the Global Skills Challenge, hosted by WorldSkills Australia, has concluded in Wollongong, NSW, with winners announced across 33 skill competitions.

In the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning competition, the medal winners were:

  • Gold – Korea
  • Silver – Australia
  • Bronze – China Taipei

The four-day competition was organised and managed by Joshua Seymour from RMIT, providing competitors with valuable international-level experience ahead of the WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai this September. Joshua will also represent Australia as the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Expert and Judge at the international event.

Australia’s competitor, Adam Morgan, from the Hunter Region of NSW, has been training since winning the WorldSkills Australia National Championships in June last year. Adam is employed by Clements Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical in Maitland, NSW, and is mentored by Glen Riddett from TAFE NSW’s Hunter Institute.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning competition was hosted in the refrigeration facilities at TAFE NSW’s Wollongong campus, with strong support from campus staff and industry partners Kirby HVAC&R, Refrigerant Reclaim Australia and the Australian Refrigeration Council.

With fewer than 100 days until the WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai, Joshua and Adam will use the insights gained from the Global Skills Challenge to further refine Adam’s preparation as he gets ready to compete against the world’s best from 26 countries.

Kirby congratulates Adam, Joshua and everyone involved in supporting Australia’s journey to the world stage and wishes them every success in Shanghai.

In 2026, Kirby celebrates a 30-year partnership with WorldSkills Australia, having sponsored the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Category since 1996.
