R22 is a single-component HCFC refrigerant, also known as chlorodifluoromethane, used in air conditioning and refrigeration applications. Kirby supplies R22 refrigerant in 12kg, 22kg and 65kg cylinders for HVAC&R trade applications.
R22 is an end-of-life refrigerant and Australia is phasing out HCFCs in line with its obligations under the Montreal Protocol. R22 was discontinued for use in new air conditioning systems from 2010. Retrofit alternatives listed by Kirby include R407C, R422D and R438A.
